Rose Eleanor Arbuthnot-Leslie (born 9 February 1987) is a Scottish actress.[1] She was born in Aberdeen,[2] and attended Millfield School[3] before spending three years (2005–2008) at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art graduating with a BA Honours degree.[4]
Leslie made her debut in the 2009 TV film New Town, for which she won the Scottish BAFTA for Best Acting Performance - New Talent Award.[5][6] In September and October 2010 she appeared at the Globe Theatre in Nell Leyshon’s play Bedlam.[7][8] She appeared in the role of Gwen, a housemaid, in 2010 in the ITV series, Downton Abbey in all seven episodes of the first series. [9] In 2011, she was cast as the wildling Ygritte in the second season of the HBO fantasy TV series Game of Thrones.[10]
